The three greatest teachings of JesusÂ…
by darth frosty inthe three greatest teachings of jesus.
are all cancelled out by the practices and teaching of the fds.
jesus gave three outstanding examples of what it is to be a follower of his and the actions and mindset that you should have, all three of these teachings or example's are diminished by the practices of jw's.

Some really friendly witnesses
by Junction-Guy ini never thought i would ever say anything positive about jw's, but after attending a funeral last week, i must say they were some of the friendliest people i have seen in quite awhile, luckily for me, i already know their religion is a lying croc, but still i was treated with the utmost respect.
just something a little positive to share, to balance out the negative.

Of course there are decent JW's. Nothing in life is as simple as just good and bad, and there are reasons for evil behaviour in people. Studies done in obedience to authority have shown some worrying results in everyday, average people.
Yeah, what undercover said. -

I have forsaken my dedication
by wobble ini don't think you can, because they are completely fixated with territory maps, hours and doors to knock on (and literature to present).. how many years have jws been active in the uk?
well over a century.. how many hours were spent "preaching" in the uk last year?
must be well over 500,000 hours.. if you were to ask a member of the public what jws believe, now many would you have to ask before anyone mentioned god's kingdom?

The only thing that comes to my mind: tell them that as Witnesses don't baptise in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19), but instead tie someone to an organisation run as men who demand loyalty to their own ever-changing doctrines, you prefer to take some time to go back to what the bible says.

Oh wow. You could do some damage with that!
Some good ideas there. Maybe you could highlight some of the similar interpretations of other religions (Millerites, Seventh Day Adventists), ask what the difference is, and then finish with a really weak excuse as to the why the organisation is different. Maybe it would help the congregation to see that the WTS isn't the only one spewing out flawed apocalyptical crap.
Do let us know how it goes. -

How about a community blog?
by DT ina community blog could never replace a discussion forum like this one and shouldn't have that as a goal, but a blog could fill some important needs and even have some advantages over a traditional discussion forum.. it would be similar in that it would contain posts that could be commented on.
the navigation would be different.
it would also have limitations on who could post articles.

Is anyone interested in running this kind of site?
As I've mentioned briefly, I'm considering building a community site, and what you've posted here about blogging is a large part of my idea, too. I also had official site articles in mind, all with the aim of making key content quickly accessible for the general public who need to know that the WTS is a cult and Witnesses who are researching.
If I were to go ahead, my site would also include a forum for members to discuss things with each other. I also have another couple of ideas for features.
I'm planning to perform some testing in a week or so...

VS77,
This is the first time I've read your thread.
Life might be hard and scarey for you right now, but you will make it through. You WILL make it through. (Look at yourself in the mirror, deep in those eyes, and tell yourself that out loud as many times as you like.)
I don't know what's happened since your last posting, but if you intend to help your husband free himself of the blinkers do not push him. I think it's usually better for the unbelieving Witness to not let on they have real doubts as they are instantly tagged as weak/deceived/etc. and the barriers to thinking go up in fear.
Perhaps you could post back...
